Teaching pronunciation

Teaching pronunciation is one the most controversial issues in ESL/EFL classes and many teachers try to avoid this intentionally or unintentionally.

Today I'm going to share two very interesting teaching pronunciation videos which will really change our attitude towards teaching pronunciation and hopefully it'll give us some food for thought and give us confidence to teach pronunciation in our classes.

In the first video Adrian Underhill shows us how to present phonemes physically and visibly.

In the second video Judy B. Gilbert, is an internationally respected authority on teaching English pronunciation, a teacher, teacher trainer, and author, suggests practical solutions and outline seven concepts in teaching pronunciation.

  1. Thank you Akther for the brilliant videos. I've only managed to watch the first half of Adrian's video so far, but what a fantastically simple way to show pronunciation. I will definitely be coming back to watch, and learn the rest.
